The Top 4 Features Clubhouse Needs Now

Clubhouse is an invitation-only audio chat app that creates an environment where users can moderate, listen, or join conversations within the app’s community.

Before the party emoji disappeared from my profile — that emoji obviously indicates to other people that you are new to the service —I comprehended the fundamental features of the app.

After I’ve experienced Clubhouse for 2 weeks, here are a few improvements I would be glad to see in the next updates:

1. Highlighting of the Speaking Person

Occasionally, there would be 50–60 speakers in a room. Even those speakers are separated from the others in the room, it gets really hard to notice who talks right now. You need to scroll to find out whose profile picture’s border is dimmed with that pale color. I would suggest that to move that highlighted speaker to the first row of the room which makes it more visible to the audience.

2. Editable Room Name

When you create rooms or schedule events in Clubhouse, they can have titles — it is very important to attract people to your room — entered initially. Currently, if you make a typo in the title or you want to change it, this is not possible, you have to create a new room with a new title or you’ll have to live with it. To make it editable solves the problem above and also prevents losing your audience when you switch to a new topic.

3. Activity Status Visibility

Like Instagram, I would like to hide my activity in Clubhouse to prevent being invited in a private room frequently and disturbed.

4. “Save For Later” Podcast Button

Sometimes there may be more than one room that catches your attention on your home page, or you may want to listen to the conversations in the room you are in afterward. Therefore, it can be very useful to allow these conversations to be stored as podcasts or audio recordings.

Conclusion

Apart from what I said above, I believe that Clubhouse is a successful initiative that emerged at a time when face-to-face communication of people in the pandemic was so diminishing. How happy if it can suppress people’s social hunger to some extent.
